Age Exchange

Picture
Age Exchange was founded in 1983 and works with older people to improve their quality of life by valuing their reminiscences.  They are recognised nationally and internationally by many providers of services in the statutory and voluntary sectors as being the leading practitioners, consultants and sources of information about reminiscence work.

To Care For

This production was based on Londoners' memories of family, community, and institutionalised care and previewed at Greenwich Theatre on the 31st of July and 1st August 2009.

The play, entirely based on real life experience, has received many plaudits from the London public including care professionals, participants, audience and contributors.

My nurse monologue is taken from an interview with one of the original NHS nurses who was present in the audience.  In addition to my acting roles I worked as a rehearsal facilitator.

The Long and the Short of It

Following a series of reminiscence sessions with 17 residents we worked with two residents to produce a structured piece of drama on stage for an audience at the Age Exchange, Bakehouse  Studio Theatre.

There was no script for the residents to learn. The play was built out of improvisations of their memories, with guidance and support from project workers throughout the scenes.
