Reminiscence holidays with Grandparents and Grandchildren from America

Picture
With my intergenerational and reminiscence skills added to this my tour guiding experience and the work I do with younger people. I have had the good fortune to perform three roles for the Americans whilst they are on tour with Road Scholars educational touring adventures.

The tours daily schedule was rehearsing, of which I was assistant director, touring London in the afternoons and in the evenings going to a selection of West End plays. Built around this was the work and fun times I was leading with the younger people.

I have been engaged in this multi disciplined way with Road scholars and age exchange for the last three years - Assistant director, group leader and youth co-coordinator all in a days work!

This work has given me insight into life in America and the life of Americans. Sharing their moments of life and humanity is a privilege and a joy. All the wonderful people I have come into contact with on these tours are positive and outstandingly good at ‘having a go’ some of them have never done any thing like this in their lives before and yet they all rise to the challenge. Without this generosity of spirit and openheartedness these plays would not go on. Thankyou

"Paddling to the Palais" - Trinity Laban Conservatoire of music and Dance and Age Exchange production with elders and people with dementia.

An exploration into creating a choreographic, musical and dramatic piece which first and foremost supports and involves people with dementia. The main aim of the work is to engage and collaborate with all participants inclusively with a view to producing a theatrical presentation where all company members are equally involved in the process and finished piece.

The presentation was created from the memories and reminiscences of visits to the seaside and evenings out at the dance halls shared by the participants and from which the company created the movement and song sequences.
