Mural at William Hogarth Nursery School  - Easter and Summer 2014

The children at the nursery were happy to hear that the famous artist -  William Hogarth loved children and would make mulberry pies for everyone to enjoy. William hogarth had a mulberry tree in his garden, it is still there now all these years later.
Through the inspiration of William Hogarth and his mulberry tree we created this mural for the nursery playground. We sang the nursery rhyme ' here we go round the mulberry bush' and drew pictures of mulberry bushes and what we thought William Hogarths garden would have looked like. Next, i took the drawings that the children had done and created a big picture inspired by their work.

Mural for children affected by the Tsunami - 2005

In 2005 i joined an NGO organisation and went to Sri Lanka. I worked with the children in the camps that had been set up for the people that had lost their homes in the disaster. This particular camp, where i did this mural was by the sea. It was an old halls of residence for medical students. There was only one water tap and the wall looked onto it. The area became a communal area for washing and cooking and meeting up. The people sheltering in this camp where all from fishing villages. Fishing was their livelihoods which is reflected in the mural. The mural was inspired by the drawings of the children i was working with.
