Reminiscence therapy

Picture
Do you work with people who have become disconnected from who they are and where they come from?  Do you work with older people or those diagnosed with dementia?  Would you like to find ways to honour the past in order to create a happier, healthier future?

However old we are, when we become disconnected from our past we loose a sense of who we are today. The art of reminiscence utilises themes and objects in order to trigger specific memories.  As we remember and share these memories we reconnect with ourselves and others.

I have been a reminiscence practitioner since 2005.  In my work with memory I aim to create a playful atmosphere of exploration.  To enable this I employ a wide variety of methods including music, singing, visual arts, and storytelling.  Where possible I like to use the reminiscence process to lead towards some kind of concluding presentation or performance.
